Het Lab Utrecht (1999) supports directors and choreographers who will use their art to build a bridge between their own, adult dreams and thoughts and an audience of children and young people. Het Lab Utrecht develops 15 to 20 projects and productions per year. The results of the work can be seen in our ´home´ building De Berenkuil in Utrecht, as well as in theatres across The Netherlands and at foreign festivals. Het Lab is an ambassador for a new generation of youth theatre makers and invites the audience to take part in these young artists’ adventurous ways of creating drama. This has made Het Lab Utrecht one of the major international laboratories for new developments in theatre and dance for young audiences.

Het Lab Utrecht is the initiator of the FTE and is responsible for the overall coordination of the NEW ARTISTIC IDENTITIES project. It has taken the initiative and responsibility to coordinate the project both artistically and financially. Het Lab Utrecht has an important role in the development of the art form, and works on an interdisciplinary base. The organization is the first to organize an encounter in November 2011 with the theme: the interaction with other disciplines; dance, visual arts and architecture. Het Lab Utrecht will take the lead in the development of a NAI publication to be issued towards the end of the project. During the NAI tour in march 2013 Het Lab Utrecht will collaborate with Tweetakt international youth festival. Het Lab Utrecht builds a bridge between the Dutch youth dance circuit and the international network.
