“The Dance Station” is Sweden´s biggest free venue for contemporary dance, based in Malmo. It presents, coproduces and distributes around 300 contemporary dance performances annually, and two thirds of these are aimed at young audiences. For 15 years (since 1996) Dansstationen has been presenting guest performances for all age groups on and around its own stage, and it has an annual festival in the region called Salto! which presents 100-150 performances (of 8-12 pieces) for children of school and kindergarten age. Since 1999 Dansstationen has been annually coproducing with different choreographers for their own Touring Company, playing for children and young people in Sweden and abroad. Dansstationen’s role in the project, in cooperation with the partners from Denmark and Estonia, is to promote encounters between the methods of different choreographers and experienced partners from the Nordic-Baltic countries and the Central European countries.
